The intention of my undergraduate final studio project was to create a vibrant, cultural hub surrounding the LRT station. Since the station is in such close proximity to the Grand River, pedestrians will be encouraged to enjoy the view by crossing Water St. S through clear and accessible pathways. The inspiration for the visual metaphor originates from our parti ‘bridging the gap’. This means mitigating any constraints the Grand River presents by dividing Downtown Cambridge and using it as an asset to balance both sides. The driving factors that will transform the site into a cultural hub are symbolized in the seven different icons shown below.
